The Allure of Hard Work

--

Complexity bias is the tendency people have to prefer more complicated explanations to simple ones. It’s probably the reason why we need to be taught Occam’s Razor (the simplest explanation is usually the correct one). Sometimes I feel this way about work. It feels easier to just buckle-down and work until the thing is done. Hard work is important, but I also need to remind myself to keep trying to work smarter. What if instead of of focusing on what I accomplish in a day, I focused on how much time or effort it took me to do it? Let this be my new challenge. Prioritizing how I get things done now to unlock even bolder wins in the future.
